Values for FPC’s Impact Ministry, Our Partners and Initiatives

These are the core values we have for ourselves and would like to see reflected in our ministry partners. We certainly don’t score 10 out of 10 on every value and we do not anticipate that each mission partner will either. But as we reflect on our own mission and consider the ministries with whom we are partnering, it is important that we explore the degree of alignment we have with our long-term partners and our new initiatives.

EVANGELISM

To what degree is there a core commitment to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed so that people might come to entrust their lives to him and begin to grow as his disciples? To what degree does this commitment promote the growth and development of the church as a loving community with a living witness and a capacity for mission in the world?

HOLISTIC MISSION

To what degree is this a ministry that values the whole person, engages the complex social, cultural, political and economic realities in which people live and is taking seriously the comprehensive work of Christ to “make all things new"?

COMMITMENT TO GLOBAL CHRISTIANITY

Over 60% of the world’s Christians are culturally non-Western.  To what degree does this ministry respect and engage the increasing voice and capacity of these “Majority World” Christian brothers and sisters? Is this ministry demonstrating sufficient sensitivity and commitment to equip, encourage and facilitate mission that is truly from and by “Majority World” ministry partners?

FOCUS ON THE LEAST & THE LOST

To what degree is this ministry focused on the most marginalized and forgotten in the least resourced parts of our world? The Scripture encourages us to focus on those who have little or no access to the gospel of Jesus Christ, on orphans, widows, refugees, the poor, the hungry, the thirsty, the homeless, the sick and the oppressed.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACTIVE PARTICIPATION

True partnerships require the cultivation of real relationships.  To what degree does this ministry provide opportunities for significant engagement by the people of our church?  Will we have opportunities to send short-term teams who will be able to experience the work being done and partner in mission service? Will there be opportunities for us to show hospitality to this ministry, have regular written contact with one another and engage in serious intercessory prayer?

THEOLOGICAL CONGRUENCE

To what degree are the theological affirmations of this mission partner compatible with our own?  In other words, as a Reformed and Evangelical Christian community how much theological overlap do we share with this ministry partner?

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

To what degree does this ministry partner follow best practices in regards to financial management, stewardship and accountability?  Is there internal integrity, external accountability and financial transparency?

PERSONAL CONNECTION & CORPORATE PASSION

To what degree does the ministry of this mission partner resonate with the people of our church? Is there a personal investment on the part of many individuals in the church and a corporate identification with the work being done by this ministry partner?
